Joni Warner began her career in prospect research at Saint Mary’s College in October 2005 after serving ten years as an Academic Librarian. Her area of expertise was information literacy, library instruction, and reference. She has an MLS from Indiana University and began her career as an Instructional Services Librarian at the University of Southern Indiana in 1996. In 2000, she became the Associate Librarian and Coordinator of Library Instruction at the University of Notre Dame. In these positions, Joni was responsible for developing and leading the library instruction and information literacy programs. These positions included research, reference and teaching classes on information literacy instruction.

Description
What is important when you are starting your first few years as a prospect researcher? Is it quality or quantity of research? Creating office policies or defining best practices? This presentation will provide you with the essential elements from the perspective of a small research shop with three staff members, all of whom are new to prospect research with less than three years of experience. You will learn how to manage, simplify and produce information in a small research shop as well as where your time and energy should be focused in your first few years as a prospect researcher.
