Janet Weimar is the Prospect & Research Manager in the Foundation Service Center at Iowa Health System. In this role, she manages the prospect research operations for the system’s 7 affiliated healthcare foundations in Des Moines, Sioux City, Waterloo, Dubuque, Cedar Rapids, Fort Dodge, and the Quad-Cities. Prior to joining Iowa Health System in August 2009, Janet was a Research Associate at The University of Iowa Foundation, where she worked for 11 years.
Janet has bachelor’s degrees in English and Theatre Arts from The University of Iowa and has participated in numerous APRA continuing education seminars and workshops through the years. An APRA member and volunteer for the past 12 years, Janet is the immediate past president of the Great Plains Chapter of APRA, served on the planning committee for the 2009 APRA Midwest Chapter’s Conference, and has presented on a variety of research topics for the local chapters of APRA and AFP.

"Heather was hired in 2007 to begin building the Foundation Resource Center for Iowa Health System, which assists in the operational piece of 7 Foundations. Since that time she has successfully implemented a Grateful Patient program, Research program, as well as Database Management and consistency across 7 hospitals.
Heather obtained her undergraduate degree in Sociology from Mount Mercy College in 2001 and her Masters of Organizational Leadership from St. Ambrose University in 2007.
Heather is a member of the Iowa Health HIPAA Task Force as well as the Director of Marketing on the APRA Great Plains board. Heather has voluntarily sat on panels and given presentations across the state of Iowa as well as the United States in regards to her operations and program implementation.

Description
Examine how to build a research program in a healthcare environment. Based on a case study, this session will address how to use in-house information to identify potential prospects, field requests for research on fundraiser-identified prospects and use proactive research techniques to push new information to fundraisers.
