Description
This case study presentation examines how the stakeholders from the New Orleans VA Medical Center came together to build a replacement facility to provide comprehensive care for more than 2,000 veterans per day.

Along with Case Study 1, this session will enable you to-
• Discuss the differences between acuity-adaptable rooms, universal rooms, and standard critical care rooms, using the case study examples, and identify when they are appropriate for use in a project design.
• Discuss the challenge of coming up with creative solutions for aggressively scheduled projects faced by the case study design teams and how their approaches can be applied to other projects.
• Discuss how design teams can apply the lessons learned from these case studies to assess the appropriateness of various design modalities to a specific project.
• List three methods, as presented in case studies, that have been successfully used to measure the impact of design innovation on patient care.

  • Develop techniques for innovation across the conventional boundaries that separate the design team, the owner and the builder
  • Learn key strategies for cultivating teams with innovative design cultures
  • Understand hurdles and challenges that are faced by a design team that seeks novel solutions within a an aggressively scheduled project
