Description
The presenters will describe energy-conserving design strategies for acute care hospitals that meet health department regulations, satisfy the test of competitive cost procurement, and demonstrate 30 percent energy savings compared to an ASHRAE Standard 90.1 baseline model. Hear how an integrated design approach and informed choices reduce load, improve system configurations, and result in refined design criteria that compound energy and first-cost savings. This session will enable you to-
• Discuss approaches presented in the case study that a project team can apply to deliver high-quality lighting solutions in terms of cost-effectiveness and energy consumption.
• Configure HVAC systems to deliver high-quality ventilation, heating, and cooling services at reasonable cost with low energy consumption.
• Develop multidisciplinary project teams, using information from case studies, that can work together to create, maintain, and optimize health care physical environments that conserve energy.
• List various evaluation techniques, based on information provided, that can be used to assess the impact energy-conserving design strategies can have on a facility's energy use and patient care.
