Description
CMS is considering adopting the 2012 edition of NFPA 99 in 2012/13. For all of us used to the 1999 edition of NFPA 99 (currently enforced by CMS), the changes are dramatic. Over the past seven years NFPA 99 has undergone a total makeover, including the addition of new chapters, fixing many existing compliance challenges, and changing the focus of the application of the code from a building occupancy type classification to one based on categories of patient risk. This session enables you to:
* Identify the effects these changes will have on the future design and operation of health care facilities.
* Discuss how to plan for the design of future mechanical and electrical systems to meet the 2012 edition of NFPA 99.
