Description
Given by the chair of the NFPA 110/111 Technical Committee on Emergency Power Supplies, this session will discuss major changes to NFPA 110: Standard for Emergency and Standby Power Systems and NFPA 111: Standard on Stored Electrical Energy Emergency and Standby Power Systems that can affect future accreditation activities as well as emergency power reliability. This session is intended to facilitate understanding of changes in these documents that will affect important emergency power supply systems. This session will enable you to—
• State the major differences between the pre-2000 editions currently referenced by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Joint Commission and current editions that will likely apply to future accreditation activities.
• List major changes, clarifications, and requirements in the 2010 and 2013 editions of NFPA 110 and NFPA 111.

LEARNER OUTCOMES:
  • Describe improvements from pre-2000 to 2010 and how they relate to existing accreditation requirements.
  • List major changes and clarifications for NFPA 110-2013 and NFPA 111-2013.
  • List the main requirements of NFPA 110-2010 and NFPA 111-2010.
  • State the rationale for the evolution of these two standards.
