Dennis Smith, M.S., CHFM, CCM, CEM, Director Facility Management, Catholic Health Initiatives

Biography: Dennis E. Smith,M.S., CHFM, CCM, CEM Title: Assistant Director of Facility Management Company: Denver, CO Experience: Dennis has been has been with Catholic Health Initatives since 2006. In his role as Assistant Director of Facility Management, Dennis is responsible for the development and support of CHI Facility Managers. Additional responsibilities include consulting with MBOs and CHI National regarding construction issues from contracts to claims, identification and promotion of energy reduction efforts system wide, development of the CHI Facility Manager Orientation and comprehensive tool box, and assisting with CHIs Joint Commission compliance with the Environment of Care. Prior to assuming his role at CHI, Dennis was the Director of Facilities at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, KS for three years. During his tenure at St. Catherine Hospital Dennis had responsibility for the management of the Facility Management Group which included Plant Operations, Maintenance, Safety, Security, Environmental Services, and Construction Management for St. Catherine and outlying properties. Dennis formerly was a majority owner, President and CEO of a regional construction firm working in four states and specializing in commercial, institutional, and healthcare construction, serving seven hospital systems in Kansas and Nebraska. He is a retired Lt. Colonel with a successful three year Command tour of a nuclear capable Field Artillery Battalion. Dennis is an adjunct Professor for Friends University, College of business in Wichita KS and has several professional certifications; Certified Healthcare Facility Manager, Certified Construction Manager, and Certified Energy Manager.
