LEARNER OUTCOMES:
  • Compare and contrast emerging therapies for atrial fibrillation and recommend strategies for prevention of drug-induced torsades de pointes.
  • Describe evidence supporting novel pharmacotherapy approaches for prevention of atrial fibrillation including ACE inhibitors, stains, ARBs.
  • Provide a recommendation for prevention of atrial fibrillation after cardiac or non-cardiac thoracic surgery.
  • Recommend strategies for prevention, diagnosis and management of amiodarone-induced adverse effects.
  • Recommend therapy for conversion to sinus rhythm in the atrial fibrillation patient and therapy for maintenance of sinus rhythm in atrial fibrillation.
