LEARNER OUTCOMES:
  • Based on interpretation of the results of the ENHANCE study, make recommendations for the use of ezetimibe alone and/or in combination with statins.
  • Describe potential mechanisms of antihyperlipidemic drug-induced myopathies and recommend strategies for prevention and management of antihyperlipidemic drug-induced myopathies.
  • Describe the evidence supporting the use of omega-3 fatty acids, soy protein and other CAM for managing dyslipidemias.
  • Explain the known and potential benefits to decreasing triglycerides.
  • Explain the potential clinical relevance of pleiotropic effects of statins and describe recent data on the risks vs benefits of raising HDL limits.
