Description

With its ever greater impact on pharmacy practice and patient care, pharmacy informatics is now found at all steps of the medication-use process. Core informatics educational requirements have been established in PharmD programs. Informatics residencies have received ASHP accreditation. Is the time right for the credentialing of pharmacy informaticians? Here’s your best opportunity to explore the role of credentialing, options for establishing credentialing for pharmacy informaticians, and perspectives of informatics credentialing in other healthcare disciplines.

  • Describe the credentialing process commonly used by other pharmacy specialties.
  • Describe the credentialing process other health care disciplines have used for informaticians.
  • Participate in discussions regarding the viability and value of pharmacy informatics credentialing.
