Description
This program will investigate key components associated with developing an advanced learning experience in the clinical setting for pharmacy learners—both for newly established preceptor as well as the established preceptor desiring new tools or facing obstacles. Key components to be explored include optimization of student participation, identification of challenges and barriers, and demonstration of innovative educational opportunities. Educational tools utilized in successful programs will be described, including tools that describe appropriate patient care activities, formal and informal educational opportunities, and opportunities for assessment of learning. This program will describe the beneficial role that the pharmacy learner can provide in the clinical setting, as well as the potential benefits to the preceptor and institution that can be anticipated. Finally, critical challenges and barriers will be described, and solutions for overcoming them will be presented.
