Description
This session will examine the issues faced by federal and state policy makers that impact health system practice. Solutions to drug shortages, user fees for generic drugs, a regulatory pathway for biosimilars, and effective use of pharmacy technicians are just a few of the issues that will be considered by Congress, the FDA, and state boards of pharmacy. The impact on health system practice will be reviewed.

  • Describe the political and policy agenda of the Congress and the Executive Branch leading up to the general election.
  • Explain the federal legislative and regulatory issues impacting health system pharmacy.
  • Explain the state legislative and regulatory issues impacting health system pharmacy.
