Description
Effective antimicrobial management starts wherever you first encounter the patient: in the ambulatory care setting, as an inpatient or in the emergency department. Participants will learn about the increasing importance of antimicrobial stewardship in the ED and apply the latest IDSA recommendations to treat an ambulatory patient with a UTI.

  • Apply the current Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA) recommendations to outpatient UTI management.
  • Discuss the purpose of an antibiogram in an emergency department (ED) setting.
  • Explain current resistance patterns: focus on urinary pathogens.
  • Identify opportunities related to culture surveillance in the ED.
