Description
There is tremendous interest in increasing the number of residency positions and programs available to graduating pharmacy students. To do this, many more preceptors will be needed. Practical advice from well-recognized and highly-respected residency preceptors and program directors is of particular benefit to new preceptors but is also valuable to those already serving in residency precepting roles.

  • Given a description of how a former PGY2 resident integrated the positive experiences from training to creating even better experiences for trainees after transitioning to the role of RPD (or preceptor), evaluate current approaches to PGY2 residency program development, customization, and assessment, and revise strategies to improve processes.
  • Given descriptions of effective orientation to a residency program, refine your orientation programs to enhance positive experiences for residents.
  • Given descriptions of effective residency project advising and mentoring, assess the outcomes of residency projects at your institution and incorporate changes that increase the likelihood projects will be completed and disseminated.
