Description
Patients often have an allergy to an antibiotic listed on their medical record but they are in your health system requiring treatment. In this session, you will differentiate between an allergy and adverse event and evaluate treatment options along with appropriateness for desensitization in patient cases.

  • Describe the major classes associated with hypersensitivity reactions, cross-reactivity, and the safety of other agents within the class.
  • Evaluate the appropriateness of desensitization and apply an example procedure to a patient case.
