Description
This session will explore the critical issues facing health-system pharmacists in Congress, federal agencies and the states. Potential action on both the state and federal level in response to the meningitis outbreak, the lingering problem of drug shortages and efforts to achieve provider status will highlight the session.

  • Describe the federal and state role in regulating compounding, managing and mitigating drug shortages, and participating in the 340B drug discount program.
  • Explain the current approval pathway for biosimilars and state activity with respect to product interchangeability.
  • Identify current federal regulatory and legislative issues impacting health-system pharmacists in a variety of settings.
