Learning Objectives:
  • Describe the epidemiology, pathophysiology, risk factors, and comorbidities of sleep disorders in the general and special populations.
  • Compare and contrast the MOA, pharmacokinetic parameters, adverse effects, and monitoring parameters for the recent pharmacological treatment options approved for the treatment of insomnia.
  • Explain how to educate patients on the non-pharmacological strategies for the treatment of insomnia based upon primary literature evidence.
  • Describe a safe and effective treatment plan for sleep disorders based upon a patient?s demographic profile and medical history.
