LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  • Describe the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and risk factors for the development of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
  • List the three core symptoms of PTSD and be able to describe an example of each symptom.
  • Recommend appropriate pharmacotherapeutic agents for treatment of core and residual symptoms of PTSD.
  • Describe the gender differences in clinical presentation and treatment responses in PTSD.
  • Summarize the recent literature comorbidities and quality of life issues associated with PTSD in both civilian and military trauma.
