Description
(Research and Education Foundation Award for Excellence in Medication-Use Safety Winner)

In 2003 the Alaska Native Medical Center developed a telepharmacy program to address disparities in care for their patients living in remote and sparsely populated areas. Their efforts resulted in using telepharmacy to network a group of clinics linked to the main hub in Anchorage where clinical pharmacists review all prescription orders for appropriateness prior to the patient receiving the medication. This session will provide insights on applying technology to replicate this success in similar environments.

Presentations:
- Recognizing a Challenge and Assembling a Team to Solve Pharmaceutical Care Access Issues in Rural Settings
- Daily Application and Maintenance of a Telepharmacy Model Serving Distant Locations
