Description
As more patient care is being delivered in the outpatient setting, hospitals are opening or acquiring interests in ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs). This creates challenges for hospital risk managers. Should there be unique policies and procedures? Should ASC staff have access to hospital records? Should there be separate credentialing processes? This session presents strategies to ensure patient safety in the ASC setting and list policies that should be consistent with the hospital ORs.
LEARNER OUTCOMES:
Identify the key risk management issues and unique challenges associated with ASCs.
List the policies that should be consistent with the hospital OR.
Provide effective strategies to ensure patient safety in the ASC setting.
