Description
Regulatory, reimbursement and legal standards changes, along with drastic changes in healthcare itself, may be creating a perfect storm of liability and increased risk for hospital acquired infections (HAIs). This session reviews those changes and suggests types of legally defensible programs to reduce liability, risk and infection rates. Data presented are based on hospital pilot studies that focus on hand hygiene, environmental cleaning, targeted preadmission patient screening and visitor access.
LEARNER OUTCOMES:
-
Develop a legally defensible, cost effective risk based infection control program to reduce HAI's.
-
Improve, track, and implement hand hygiene, envtal cleaning, and patient screening compliance plans.
-
Understand the current changes impacting the health care industry with respect to HAI's.
