Kirsten K. Ullman is the Managing Partner of the Southeast Region for Lewis, Brisbois, Bisgaard & Smith, LLP. Ms. Ullman graduated with honors from Stetson University College of Law in 1990. She is a defense trial attorney, who practices in the areas of nursing home, assisted living, continuing care retirement, medical malpractice and hospital defense. Ms. Ullman is licensed to practice law in Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, and New Jersey, and has successfully tried cases throughout the southeast region of the United States. Ms. Ullman often presents at client regional counsel forums and events nationwide.

Description
Legal and liability issues affecting nursing homes, assisted living facilities and retirement communities will be reviewed, including recent trials, verdicts, the impact of arbitration agreements; resident background checks; QA protection of efforts to improve care; spoliation of evidence; new technology; and resources to improve care and documentation. This presentation shows how to identify, prevent, manage and resolve legal and liability issues. Participants will be encouraged to share their experiences and best practices.
