Peter Schwartz, Chair of OB-GYN, Director of Residency Program, Reading Hospital
Dr. Peter A. Schwartz has served as the Director of the Department of Ob/GYN and the Residency Program at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center for nearly 20 years. Prior to joining TRHMC, he spent 13 years in private practice with teaching appointments at several universities.
In addition to serving on many committees at TRHMC, Dr. Schwartz has been President of the Council of the Obstetrical Society of Philadelphia and Chair of the Pennsylvania Section of the ACOG. He has served on numberous other committes with obstetrical-focused organizations.

Mr. Saxton is an active defense trial lawyer a practice he has sustained for over 25 years representing providers, including hospitals and physicians in state and federal courts and administrative proceedings.
Jim uses his extensive experience as a litigator to advise hospitals and medical groups throughout the United States in connection with understanding and reducing reducing their professional liability risk. Jim develops risk reduction strategies for health care providers and organizations nationwide and has created innovative strategies and educational programs to support them, including in obstetrics.
He lectures frequently throughout the nation on liability risk reduction topics.
Description
Clinical, legal and risk management professionals recently completed a national obstetrical (OB) analysis of risk and identified a number of risk reduction measures and compliance initiatives. This session features a case study on OB event management and highlights shoulder dystocia as an example of an area in which risk can be reduced and patient safety improved. Also, the presenters share innovative compliance programs.
