Paul Craig, RN, JD, Chief Risk & Safety Officer, UCSD Medical Center
Paul Craig is the Chief Risk Officer at the UCSD Medical Center and is responsible for the Medical Center’s Risk Management, Patient Safety, Worker Safety and Licensing &Accreditation programs. Mr. Craig has worked in hospital risk management and administration for the past ten years. He is a nurse attorney, having graduated with honors from the DePaul College of Law in Chicago. Mr. Craig practiced law in Chicago from 1991 – 1996 and has extensive experience as a registered nurse. He has authored a number of articles and book chapters on various topics related to healthcare law and risk management.

Dr. Dan Sullivan is the President and CEO of The Sullivan Group. Dr. Sullivan is board certified in Emergency Medicine, a Fellow in the American College of Emergency Physicians, a member of the American Medical Association, and an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Cook County Hospital/Rush Medical College. Dr. Sullivan received his law degree from IIT Kent College of Law in 1989. He has been practicing Emergency Medicine for over 25 years.
Description
The moot court format, with attendees as members of the jury, is used to define medical malpractice and illustrate the processes to litigation, including a crash course on depositions. Actual cases and outcomes are incorporated. Participants will be able to list the dos and don’ts of deposition and testimony and explain why deposition or testimony preparation is necessary.
