Bill Boone is the Marsh National Healthcare Alternative Solutions Practice Leader. During his 15 years at Marsh he has created for-profit and not-for-profit captives and RRGs, including physician-owned medical liability RRGs for orthopaedic surgeons, oncologists, urologists and pediatricians. He has adapted the Reciprocal RRG concept (rRRG) as a risk solution particularly suited for not-for-profit entities, forming several rRRGs for affiliated hospital groups and for higher education clients. He has formed a captive for the largest physician practice plan in a mid-sized state, and has pioneered the use of the LLC captive format for not-for-profit entities. Prior to Marsh, Bill was for 13 years the Director of Risk Management for two major corporations and for five years was a board member of Medmarc Mutual Insurance Company, serving on its Finance Committee.
Bill also runs the Alternative Risk Healthcare Solutions Group, which provides all the services necessary to evaluate, structure, create and administer alternative risk facilities for healthcare institutions, physician practices and JUA-like entities utilizing two Technical Centers of Excellence. The Group’s administrative services include physician medical professional liability underwriting, invoicing, policy services, and other insurance company functionality based on an advanced, web-based IT platform.
In addition to consulting nationally to facilitate captive and RRG formations, Bill is a frequent speaker at industry forums, such as the Vermont Captive Insurance Association, CIC-DC, ASHRM, Cayman Forum and CBI’s and IBC’s forums on Alternative Risk Financing for Healthcare.
Bill is an ARM and has an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.
