Leilani has experience as a healthcare risk manager in various healthcare settings over more than 30 years. Currently she is a self employed healthcare consultant and serves as the contracted risk manager for several ambulatory surgery centers. Leilani is a past president of ASHRM and of the Houston and FL risk management chapters. As the coordinator of a course leading to risk management licensure she has the opportunities to provide career counseling to students going into the healthcare risk management field. She has earned the CPHRM, ARM, MBA and is one exam from earning the CPCU and is a LHRM.

Description
Some risk management positions have been caught in the net of a layoff. When we hear of a risk management position being eliminated we scratch our heads wondering why such an important position would be eliminated.
This presentation will explore the steps a risk manager should embrace to position oneself as a value added organizational asset. Areas to be discussed will include how to create, enhance, maintain and market the value of the risk management program as a component of the business aspects of the organization with an emphasis on prevention.
