Description
This presentation reviews the importance of communication tools in obstetrics and introduces an inovation in training for perinatal providers, P.U.R.E. Conversations in Obstetrics. P.U.R.E. stands for purposeful, unambiguous, respectful, and effective. The model involves refinement of mental processes associated with delivering any message, delivery of a message with accuracy and with direct requests for action, attention to relationships and behaviors between communicating parties, and real time assessment of effectiveness of developing a safe care plan. With participation of the entire team and the use of several different obstetric scenarios as practice venues, an improved state of communications can be attained.
