Gary Shope, J.D., Risk Finance and Occupational Health Director, CHRISTUS Health
As Risk Finance & Occupational Health Director for CHRISTUS Health, Gary Shope manages the organization's risk & insurance and occupational health programs. Previously, he spent six years managing litigation for CHRISTUS.
Shope graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Accounting and a Master's degree in Public Administration. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Houston in 1988, and practiced estate and bankruptcy law before entering the risk management profession. He is currently Treasurer of the local Houston ASHRM chapter and Vice Chairman of the Texas Alliance of Nonsubscribers.
Carol is a Senior Vice President in the Houston Healthcare Division of Alliant Insurance Services. In this position, she serves as the Account Executive for various health care accounts. Prior to joining Alliant, Carol was in risk management in the healthcare, retail and energy industries, with the last 11 years as the Corporate Risk Manager for CHRISTUS Health.
Carol has a Bachelors degree in Business from Creighton University and she has the ARM designation. She is active in the local ASHRM and RIMS chapters.
Description
To provide the audience with an Enterprise Risk Management approach to preparing a healthcare system (or hospital) for a catastrophic loss. The presentation addresses various aspects from operations and human resource considerations to the insurance policy, regulatory considerations and the financial aspects before during and after a loss. Specific suggestions are provided for audience consideration in preparing their facility for a catastrophe.
