Description
Most healthcare leaders have achieved the chronological status of being older than 45. Many staff are younger. As those of us beyond the critical value can attest, younger professionals are comfortable with and utilize a broad range of methods to exchange ideas. These approaches generally use brevity, and acronymic language. Critical thinking skills in healthcare, difficult to teach in the best of circumstances, become challenging when we think about the cross-generational cultural divide. This program will address the communication preferences and styles of our younger staff and recommend methods to teaching time honored critical thinking skills to a new generation.
LEARNER OUTCOMES:
Discuss how new technology used by the under 35 professional affects communication in the workplace.
Recognize and assess critical thinking skills-focusing on those under 35 though challenging for all.
Verbalize strategies for strengthening staff critical thinking skills.
