sJeff Seibert is the National Technical Director, Casualty Claims and Critical Incident in the Strategic Outcomes Practice of Willis. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Statistics. Jeff is a Casualty Law Associate, a Workers Compensation Law Associate, and on the Board of Directors of The American Society of Workers Compensation Professional. Over the past 37 years as a claim professional, Jeff has managed many catastrophic events, resolved a significant number of major coverage disputes, and developed numerous company-specific strategies to reduce the dollars a company pays through their claim management programs.

Joe Picone is the National Director of Regional Operations in the Strategic Outcomes Practice of Willis. In addition to leading the claim and risk consulting services for Willis, he works with the Chief Claim Executives of major insurance carriers to negotiate resolutions of difficult claim situations. Each year, Joe and his team recover millions of dollars in previously denied claims.

The process of insurance should be simple: You pay a premium and you should get your claims paid. Unfortunately, seemingly covered claims are denied causing anxiety and grief to Risk Managers and CFOs. There are many reasons claims are denied. Well discuss the top coverage issues in the areas of: medical professional liability, general liability; products liability; employment practices; and, property. We also cover why we feel carriers deny claims, and the steps we recommend to overcome coverage disputes with your insurance carriers.
