Richelle graduated from Idaho State University with a dual bachelors degrees in Radiographic Science and Health Care Administration followed by a Masters Degree in Public Health with an emphasis in statistics. Richelle brings clinical knowledge and skills from her work as a frontline radiologic technologist with specialties in operating room, emergency room, and trauma to the WLI Risk team. Coupled with the clinical background are years of administrative and management experience in risk and quality. Her most recent work was for Portneuf Medical Center as a Chief Quality and Risk Officer where, as part of the hospital’s administrative team, she was responsible for quality, risk, insurance purchasing, infection control, core measures, credentialing and medical staff in a 200 bed regional referral center. Richelle is also adjunct faculty at Idaho State University where she enjoys teaching in the Health Care Administration Program. Richelle has experience with physician and insurance contracting and has been the Executive Director of Medical Resources of Idaho, an Independent Physician Association and with Southeastern Idaho Physician-hospital Organization, a large PHO. Richelle has stayed active with local, state, and national organization for both radiology and risk management and has served in leadership roles in those professional organizations.
Richelle maintains national certification in radiology and risk management and specializes in teaching and training in risk management, root cause analysis, crisis investigation, and sentinel events. She has extensive background with Joint Commission and CMS accreditation and coordinating quality and risk programs. Richelle joined Western Litigation in 2011.

Pamela received her JD from St. Louis University and her dual Masters from Webster University. She has earned her CPHRM, the AIM and is a Distinguished Fellow with the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM). Pamela was awarded the Distinguished Service Award, only the 13th recipient in ASHRMs 30 year history. She served as the President of ASHRM in 2005 as well as the two term President of the American Hospital Associations Certification Center. She serves on the board of ICCIE and on various committees for the VCIA.
Description
This session will discuss the need to periodically assess a risk management program in order to determine the sufficiency and effectiveness. The program will discuss the timing and logistics of a comprehensive risk program risk assessment.
Once the assessment is completed, a strategic risk management plan should be created from the findings, with the ultimate result being a prioritized list of action items for completion during a 12-18 month period of time.
A case study will be utilized to show the need for the assessment, the actual findings, and the resulting risk plan and action items.
