Description
"Patients with intestinal failure have complex clinical issues, are prone
to therapy and disease related complications and have suboptimal
outcomes. This educational program will expand the knowledge
base of researchers and practitioners in intestinal failure — providing
cutting-edge information on diagnosis and treatment, including new
developments in transplantation. Areas needing further research will
be highlighted and refined during the discussion. Join this session to:
• Examine the nature and pathophysiology of intestinal failure
• Identify diagnostic and assessment methodologies for
intestinal failure in children and adults
• Describe the use of new nutritional and pharmacological
strategies for patients with intestinal failure
• Devise clinical management techniques for chronic
complications
• Outline indications for intestinal transplant and other
surgical options
• Understand current research directions and knowledge
needed to improve patient outcomes in this field"
