Description
The Dudrick Research Symposium is named in honor of Dr. Stanley J. Dudrick whose pioneering research led to the landmark development of parenteral nutrition. The annual Stanley Dudrick Research Scholar Award recognizes and supports an A.S.P.E.N. member/investigator in their early to mid-career who has shown significant achievement and who demonstrates exceptional research productivity and potential. The annual award recipient plans the Dudrick Research Symposium for Clinical Nutrition Week the following year.

The 2011 recipient, Mark Puder, MD, PhD, is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of General Surgery at the Children’s Hospital Boston. His research focuses on the prevention and treatment of parenteral and enteral nutrition induced liver injury; the role of angiogenesis and organ regeneration; and the prevention of post operative surgical adhesions. Currently, Dr. Puder’s research team is conducting a clinical study on the prevention of parenteral nutrition liver injury based on their laboratory findings. Also in preparation is a clinical study on the prevention of surgical adhesions.

Dr. Puder has planned an exceptional program with world renowned faculty who work in the field of fatty acid research. Faculty will describe the evolution of fatty acid science and the emergence of omega-3 fatty acids as important components in the human diet with profound effects. Don’t miss this invigorating and interactive symposium in honor of Dr. Stanley Dudrick.
