Description
The speakers will present the pathophysiology of anorexia associated with cancer cachexia as well as its management. Specifically, the role endogenous hormones, neurotransmitters, and catecholamines play in protein wasting and anorexia will be discussed. Participants will learn nutritional implications and methods for assessment in this population. Pharmacologic agents used to treat anorexia will be presented. Specific agents will be compared and contrasted based upon available literature.

Objectives
1. Describe the pathophysiology of anorexia
2. Evaluate methods of nutritional assessment in the cancer cachexia population
3. Discuss pharmacologic options for the management of anorexia and their adverse effects
4. Select the most appropriate treatment modality in the patient with anorexia/cachexia
