Timothy Gilligan, Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program Director, Cleveland Clinic Foundation
Dr. Timothy Gilligan is a nationally recognized expert in the management of testicular cancer. In additional to extensive personal experience treating hundreds of patients with all stages of the disease, he has written several oncology textbook chapters on testis cancer and authors the UpToDate sections on testis cancer related to advanced disease, relapsed disease, extragonadal germ cell tumors, and the role of chemotherapy in the management of early stage disease. Dr. Gilligan has given educational talks on testis cancer at the annual meetings of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Therapeutic Radiation Oncology, and the Oncology Congress. Dr. Gilligan also serves on the National Cancer Institute's Adult Treatment Editorial Board, where he is responsible for reviewing and updating treatment guidelines for testis cancer and other genitourinary malignancies. Dr. Gilligan serves as vice-chair of the American Society of Clinical Oncology's Genitourinary Tumor Markers panel, which is preparing evidence-based guidelines on the use of tumor markers in germ cell tumors and urothelial carcinoma. In addition, he is the specialty editor for testicular cancer for the ASCO www.cancer.net website for cancer patients and survivors and serves on the editorial board of The Oncologist.
