Description
"This session will address the critical need for rapid and sensitive methods to detect infectious agents that inflict significant disease burden worldwide and to detect pathogens that may be associated with bioterrorism. The panel will provide an overview of several platform technologies capable of outpacing these emerging threats through flexible and simple assay design."

Objective1: Inform on the rise of public health and safety threats and the most important currently unmet diagnostic tests.

Objective2: Identify technologies that can rapidly detect viruses (including those that cross from animals to humans) and foodborne pathogens.

Objective3: Introduce new platforms and systems that meet these public health diagnostic needs.
