Description
"With limited arable land and the world's largest populations, China and India face the challenge of increasing agricultural productivity for the needs of food, feed, fiber and fuels. Biotechnology can play a key role in meeting these demands while offering a solution for a sustainable agricultural economy. Rice is a food staple in China and India, with demand outpacing supply over the last decade. Several transgenic traits for rice are in development; however, commercialization remains challenging and requires enhancement of regulatory approval and public acceptance."

Objective1:Reveal advances in agbiotech development in R&D, business development and market access in China and India.

Objective2:Apply lessons learned from India's biotech cotton to address the challenge of commercializing biotech rice.

Objective3:Explore industry's approach to promote agbiotech development in China and India and approaches to communicating with the public and government.
