"The significant challenges inherent in the development of a safe and effective HIV vaccine have necessitated new approaches and partnership models. Large-scale collaboration and publicprivate partnerships, such as the Global HIV Vaccine Enterprise and the Canadian HIV Vaccine Initiative, are the new paradigms that bring both the required expertise and financial capacity together to meet our most pressing global health challenges.

This session will explore how a number of these partnership models work and the lessons learned that can be applied to furthering the development of an HIV vaccine."

Objective1:Define the need and the scope of the challenge in developing an HIV vaccine.

Objective2:Highlight a number of new partnership models that involve both the private and public sectors.

Objective3:Explore how these new models serve as the paradigm for advancing the development of global health solutions.
