Challenges and Advances in Successful Delivery of Nucleic Acid-based Drugs
Track : Drug Delivery
Program Code: 3246
Date: Thursday, May 21, 2009
Time: 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM  EST
Location: B302
SPEAKER (S):
Robert Forgey, ProNAi Therapeutics, Inc
Elias Papatheodorou, novosom AG
Tod Woolf, Ph.D., RXi Pharmaceuticals Corp.
Description
This very timely session will feature thought leaders in RNAi and other nucleic-acid drug therapies discussing recent advances in the safe and efficacious delivery of this innovative and highly-anticipated class of therapeutics. While new developments in nucleic acid-based therapies hold great promise, they still face their greatest challenge — the as-yet unsurmounted obstacle of delivering drugs to the cell in a therapeutically effective and safe manner. However, recent preclinical advances in RNAi and DNA-based delivery research seem on the threshold of solving the "last hurdle," and warrant in-depth discussion.

• Provide thought leader-level insight on novel approaches to delivering nucleic acid drugs
• Examine what it takes to enable successful RNAi and DNA drug delivery, and their manufacture
• Discuss current and future trends in overcoming the nucleic acid drug delivery hurdle
