Description
European policy-makers will provide an overview of developments with regard to health care and pharmaceuticals, the EU's regulatory framework, innovation policy and funding possibilities for biotechnology and life sciences. Regulatory issues (new legal acts, implementation), information to patients, cluster policy and support and recent developments of the Innovative Medicines Initiative will also be discussed.

• Show how the EU creates opportunities for the biotechnology industry by modernizing its regulation of biopharmaceuticals to provide legal certainty for newly emerging products
• Present the 2009 EU policy action to support clusters developing advanced services to small and medium-size enterprises
• Highlight sources of R&D funding for collaborative research in life sciences and biotechnology for health, agriculture and sustainable development
