Description
This session will explore several successful examples of cooperation between industry and academia in order to advance medical science and transform therapeutic development. It will show the pitfalls and best practices of Public Private Partnerships and the 'open innovation' model that is so quickly gaining ground these days. In doing so, the session will further explore a great benefit of the integrated innovation that Public Private Partnerships facilitate, namely the translation of basic research to clinical application ('bench to bedside'). Examples of successful public private partnerships will be discussed (the Center for Translational Molecular Medicine, the Top Institute Pharma) and finally a speaker from industry will discuss public private partnerships from an industry viewpoint.
