For more than 20 years, the German government has followed a pro-active strategy of fostering biotechnology research and industry in Germany. One spotlight area is the exciting field of regenerative medicine. For example, the German Ministry of Education and Research and the German Research Foundation fund the build-up of specialized research centers focusing on regenerative medicines in Berlin, Leipzig, Dresden, and Hannover with a total of up to 150 million Euro. The session will provide an overview on regenerative medicine innovations coming from Germany, discuss the research landscape and regulatory framework in the country and present case studies of success.
