Description
Many observers believe that financial conflicts of interest damage the integrity of medical research and harm patient care. Yet, recent research indicates that patients'' trust in medical research is not impacted by most financial relationships between researchers and sponsors. This session will examine how pervasive financial conflicts are, whether they are the only conflicts present in research, and the most effective tools to manage these conflicts.

• Provide a better understanding of the impact of financial conflicts of interest in research
• Discuss the effectiveness of different tools to manage these conflicts
• Analyze regulations and legislation that address conflicts and discuss alternative approaches
