This session will explore the intersection between public health and business, which has been heightened by the domestic and global economic crisis. The burden on public health programs and the cost of chronic disease conditions provide, in part, an impetus for the health reform debate in Washington. The burden of disease globally is expected to be focused upon with even greater intensity under the Obama Administration, creating the need for health-care businesses to reassess their own focus. Panelists will also discuss the implications of a constricting global economy as it relates to meeting the global public health challenge.
