Marlene Scheel is the Assistant Director of the Gift Planning Office at the University of Ottawa. She brings to this position 15 years of experience in the fundraising and not-for-profit industry. Many of her years have been spent in education and institutional fundraising, including positions with the University of Western Ontario, University of Windsor, American Red Cross and Henry Ford Health System. Marlene relocated to Ottawa approximately two years ago and is enjoying the lifestyle of Ottawa along with her husband and 10 year old daughter.

Bob Strachan is an Investment Advisor and Financial Planner with BMO Nesbitt Burns and leads a wealth management and planning practice in Ottawa. Bob has extensive experience in the financial services industry and works closely with both charities and donors in creating philanthropic initiatives. He is the Chair of the Ottawa CAGP-ACPDP™RoundTable.

Description
This session will address the important role professional advisors and a formalized Professional Advisory Council can play in aiding the implementation of your strategic plans in Gift Planning. Marlene G. Scheel will outline the successes that the University of Ottawa has achieved through the creation of a Council in their Gift Planning Office, and Bob Strachan, a key member of the University of Ottawa's Professional Advisory Council, will share his expertise in this role.
