Dotty Magnuson has been with Travelers for two years as a Regional Actuary in the pricing area of Specialized Distribution. Before joining Travelers, Dotty worked at Guy Carpenter for four years and Benfield for two years pricing reinsurance treaties. Prior to actuarial work she taught high school math. Dotty serves as a CAS university liaison for Carleton College, Northfield, MN, and as a member of the CAS Committee on Professionalism Education. Dotty holds a Bachelor of Arts (2001) in Mathematics from Carleton College, Northfield, MN, and she is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (2008).
Pat Gilhool has been with CNA since May 2001. He is currently an Assistant Vice-President in the Middle Markets Industry and Product Support area. In this role he supports pricing for the Commercial Auto and Workers Compensation lines of business as well as the non-Construction industry groups. Prior to assuming this role Pat worked in Standard Lines Reserving area, where he was responsible for reserving for multiple programs across Commercial Insurance. Prior to joining CNA, Pat spent seven years at PricewaterhouseCoopers doing loss reserving and other insurance-related audit support work. Pat has served as a member of the Midwestern Actuarial Forum Board of Directors, as a member of the CAS Exam Committee, and as a member of the CAS Committee on Professionalism Education. He has participated on multiple panels at CAS meetings discussing professionalism issues, and has led the CAS Course on Professionalism on numerous occasions. Pat holds a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Mathematics from the University of Michigan. He is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
Dustin Loeffler has been with CNA Insurance for almost five years. Since April 1, 2010 he has been in and E&S pricing role doing pricing and other analysis on program business. For two years prior to that he was in Specialty Lines Reserving where he primarily reserved D&O and professional liability products. Other roles at CNA have been 6 months in a construction underwriting and 21 months in general liability pricing. Prior to CNA he spent two years at Horace Mann Insurance in Springfield, IL where he did personal auto and homeowners pricing. Dustin has been on an exam committee for the past two years and is in his first year of being a member of COPE. Dustin graduated from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN in May 2003 with a Bachelors of Science in Actuarial Science. He is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

This webinar will provide background information on the development of Actuarial Standards of Practice and explain why they are important. A high-level overview of those Standards that apply to most of the work actuaries do on a day-to-day basis will be discussed. These will include those Standards that span multiple actuarial disciplines as well as Standards specific to either pricing or reserving work products.
