Florida has always been a challenging state with respect to property/casualty insurance because of its exposure to catastrophes and its demographics and diversity. Although writing in a single state, Florida Citizens Property Insurance Corporation has grown to be one of the largest writers of homeowners insurance in the country. This session will focus on what Citizens is and what some people say it should be. Participants also will hear from a couple of Florida-only domestic companies on how they operate in the state, and how they can operate in a state where many of the large companies are finding it so difficult.
