Usage-Based Insurance: Covering all the Bases?
Track : Usage-Based Insurance
Program Code: 300
Date: Monday, October 3, 2011
Time: 2:15 PM to 3:45 PM  EST
Location: Stadium 1
Description
Implementing a usage-based insurance (UBI) product involves a very lengthy and involved start=up process. This is complicated by the fact that actual driving behavior data is not publicly available for use in building pricing models or for rating individual drivers. How then does an insurer find its way into this new product offering? This session will address key start-up issues and provide guidance on the product development map that is required to get started. Key questions to be addressed are what can and should the telematics devices be able to do, what data is critical to collect for the best UBI models, how do insurers manage this new data explosion, what are the key regulatory and privacy issues, and what system and operational changes are required to get started?
