Dr. Sonstein earned a BS from Rutgers Univ and a PhD in Microbiology and Biochemistry from Hahnemann Medical College & has conducted preclinical & clinical research in antibiotic mechanism of action and antibiotic resistance. He is Director, Clinical Research Administration at Eastern Michigan Univ

He is CEO, Aesculape CRO Pte Ltd. in Singapore and Dir. of the Singapore Good Clinical Practice Program. He received an MD from the Univ. of Gent (Belgium) & has a PhD in Endocrinology & Metabolic Diseases. At the 2010 DIA EuroMeeting he was chairman of the pharmaceutical medicine sessions.

Description
The preliminary results of an international initiative aimed to assess the training and education needs, and the perceived value of certification to ensure quality will be contrasted with the profile of core professional competencies for clinical researchers. The status of clinical research and pharmaceutical medicine in Asia and the potential value of regional programs will also be discussed.

Identify the training and education needs among professionals involved in clinical research internationally
Define the perceived value of professional certification to improve performance
Compare the emerging profile with the competency model for implementation through postgraduate and/or CPD programs Recognize the importance of proper education and training (on local, regional, or global basis) and evaluation for human resources management in clinical research
