Description
The use of the telephone to deliver therapeutic interventions is often under evaluated in current research. A study performed by the presenters resulted in key findings that included an indifference to the mode of delivery, the choice of environment, the usefulness of the assessment, the role of the absence of visual cues, whether or not a therapeutic alliance was formed, and EAP support. These findings will be considered along with the ethical and practical implications for future delivery of direct EAP services.

Learning Objectives:

1. Learn to interpret qualitative data

2. Identify EAP clients who might be assisted by telephonic intervention

3. How to put the research findings into EAP practice considering ethical implications
